Mine is about Elizabeth. A good old friend who went missing. ... When my own Elizabeth was moving away to another country, I bought her this book. Untouched, it ended up as my only pal in a solo trip to the ocean.
It is a strong story, not a typical detective about gone girls.
Our character is quite old and ill, she forgets things, she occasionally won't recognize her own daughter, but there's one thing she's certain about. Her best friend is missing.

Страшно было читать эту книгу и наблюдать за изменениями главной героини- каждый день , каждый час, каждую минуту старость и болезнь берет свое. В книге как бы две сюжетные линии, одна в настоящем времени, когда героине 81 год, и вторая, когда она еще подросток и время сразу после войны. Так все закручено, что каждое вроде несущественное событие, предмет в настоящем приводит к воспоминаниям в прошлом героини. И если в настоящем она не помнит того, что было 5 минут назад, забывает лица своих родных , то события прошлого встают перед читателем и героиней очень четко. И в обеих сюжетных линиях она ищет кого-то- в настоящем свою подругу Элизабет, которая вдруг как бы пропала, а в прошлом свою старшую сестру Сьюки, которая ушла и не вернулась. И как же любопытно было наблюдать за…
