О премии

Премия Род Айленда за подростковую книгу - ежегодная американская награда для автора лучшей книги, выбранной читателями - подростками из штата Род Айленд.

Премия появилась в 2001 году.

Род-Айленд был в авангарде проведения общегосударственной книжной премии для подростков. Благодаря некоторым передовым учителям и специалистам по библиотечным СМИ, связанным с Ассоциацией образовательных СМИ Род-Айленда (RIEMA), работа по созданию такой награды началась ещё в 1998 году. В течение двух лет группа расширялась, в нее вошли несколько местных библиотекарей из публичных библиотек.

Каждый год с 1 января до середины февраля учителя школ, сотрудники публичных и школьных библиотек по всему штату Род Айленд формируют список книг, написанных для подростков.

Специальные бюллетени со списком номинантов раздаются учащимся средних и старших классов. Участвующие в голосовании подростки обязаны прочитать не менее трех книг из данного списка. К концу февраля юные читатели отдают свои голоса за самую понравившуюся книгу.

Лауреат выбирается один, им является автор книги, набравшей больше всего голосов.

В 2015 году было названо сразу два победителя, в 2003 - премия не присуждалась из-за реорганизации комитета.
