Франко "Бифо" Берарди - итальянский философ-марксист и активист, футуролог и теоретик медиа. В 14 лет, в 1962 году, Берарди стал членом Итальянской коммунистической Федерации молодёжи, откуда был исключён за "фракционность". В 1968 году принимал активное участие в студенческих волнениях в Болонском университете, - в это время он присоединился к основанной Антонио Негри внепарламентской группе "Рабочая власть" (Potere Operaio). В результате, как и многие другие участники движения автономистского марксизма в Италии 1970-х (А. Негри, М. Лаццаpато и др.), Берарди был вынужден бежать в Париж. Там он и сформировался как оригинальный мыслитель. Его научный интерес сосредоточен на роли и месте средств массовой информации и информационных технологий в эпоху постиндустриального капитализма. По мнению Берарди современные кризисы связаны не только с экономикой, но и с тем, как в капиталистической системе функционируют наши желания и эмоции. Бифо (псевдоним, сопровождающий его со времён школьных абстрактных рисунков) - автор почти трёх десятков книг и множества эссе.
Настоящее издание - вторая книга Франка Берарди на русском языке (первая, "Новые герои. Массовые убийцы и самоубийцы", вышла в 2016 г. в издательстве "Кучково поле").

Книга итальянского социолога Ф.Берарди посвящена феномену массового убийства и самоубийства в современном мире.
