Давид Юм - английский философ, историк, экономист. Стоял на позициях Дж. Локка в суждении, что в душе находятся только впечатления, полученные в течении жизни, и идеи как их копии. "Трактат о человеческой природе" закладывает основы его учения о чувственном опыте (источнике знаний) как потоке впечатлений, причины которых непостижимы, излагает взгляды автора на эмоциональную жизнь людей и на принципы морали, которыми человек может руководствоваться в своей сознательной деятельности.
